In the past, there was a man who kept thirty sheep.
從前，有一個(gè)人，養(yǎng)了三十只羊。
One morning, he discovered that one sheep was missing.
一天早上，他發(fā)現(xiàn)少了一只羊。
Where had it gone?
這只羊到哪兒去了呢?
Upon examination, he found that his fold was damaged.
再一查看，原來是他的羊圈壞了。
During the night a wolf had broken into the fold and devoured the sheep.
夜里狼闖進(jìn)羊圈，羊是被狼吃掉的。
His friend said to him: "You had better mend the fold quickly."
他的朋友對(duì)他說:“快把羊圈修理修理吧!”
He said: "The sheep had already been devoured by the wolf. What is the use of mending the fold?"
他說: “羊已經(jīng)被狼吃了，修理羊圈還有什么用呢?”

第二天早上，他去放羊，發(fā)現(xiàn)又少了一只羊。原來狼又從窟窿里鉆進(jìn)羊圈，又叼走了一只羊。
這位牧民很后悔沒有認(rèn)直接受鄰居的勸告，去及時(shí)采取補(bǔ)救措施。于是，他趕緊堵上那個(gè)窟窿，又從整體進(jìn)行加固，把羊圈修得牢牢實(shí)實(shí)的。
從此，這個(gè)牧民的羊就再也沒有被野狼叼走過了。
