看美劇如何學(xué)英語(yǔ)

　　當(dāng)然了，不是每一個(gè)句子、每一個(gè)知識(shí)點(diǎn)都要嚴(yán)格按照這四步進(jìn)行，但總體思路是想通的，請(qǐng)靈活運(yùn)用。下面，我們用這種方法來(lái)學(xué)習(xí)美劇中的“優(yōu)雅”(摘自《狂戀美劇學(xué)口語(yǔ)》一書(shū))：

　　第一步: Make(重現(xiàn)美劇情景)

　　Elaine is going through a job interview and one of the qualifications is grace.

　　Elaine正為一份工作接受面試。該職位的要求之一是，應(yīng)試者必須具備優(yōu)雅的風(fēng)度。

　　Interviewer: Not many people have grace.

　　很多人不具備優(yōu)雅的品性。

　　Elaine: Well, you know, grace is a tough one. I like to think I have a little grace. Not as much as Jackie O...

　　嗯，要做到優(yōu)雅是挺不容易，但我想我還是有一點(diǎn)優(yōu)雅的，當(dāng)然比起Jackie O是差一些……

　　Interviewer: You can’t have a little grace. You either have grace or you don’t.

　　你不可能有一點(diǎn)兒優(yōu)雅，你要么優(yōu)雅，要么就不優(yōu)雅。

　　Elaine: Okay, fine. I have no grace.

　　那好吧，我并不優(yōu)雅。

　　Interviewer: And you can’t acquire grace.

　　優(yōu)雅也不是可以后天學(xué)來(lái)的。

　　Elaine: Well, I have no intention of getting grace.

　　我也并不準(zhǔn)備去學(xué)會(huì)優(yōu)雅。

　　Interviewer: Grace isn’t something you can pick up at the market.

　　優(yōu)雅也不是金錢(qián)所能換來(lái)的。

　　Elaine: Alright, alright, look, I don’t have grace, I don’t want grace, I don’t even say grace, okay?

　　好了，好了。聽(tīng)著，我不優(yōu)雅，我也不想要什么優(yōu)雅，我連飯前禱告也不做，好吧?這下你該滿意了吧?

　　Interviewer: Thank you for coming in.

　　謝謝你來(lái)參加面試。

　　Elaine: Yeah, yeah, right.

　　第二步：Model(模仿地道發(fā)音)

　　grace常見(jiàn)的兩個(gè)義項(xiàng)：

　　1. a short prayer of blessing or thanksgiving said before a meal, as in the phrase “say grace” 飯前感恩的短暫禱告

　　例 Homer’s grace before a meal (from The Simpsons): “Good drink... good meat... good God, let’s eat!”

　　這是The Simpsons劇中Homer的飯前禱告：“感謝酒……感謝肉……感謝上帝，吃吧!”

　　2. effortless beauty or charm 天生優(yōu)雅，風(fēng)度

　　第三步：Multiply(擴(kuò)展語(yǔ)言知識(shí))

　　1. Jackie O是美國(guó)前總統(tǒng)John Fitzgerald Kennedy的夫人。

　　2. grace可指優(yōu)雅和飯前禱告，此處為雙關(guān)語(yǔ)。

　　第四步：Mine(挖掘文化背景)

　　A typical grace sounds like this：

　　標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的飯前禱告應(yīng)該是這樣的：

　　Bless us, O Lord, and these thy gifts,

　　Which we are about to receive

　　From Thy Bounty through Christ, Our Lord,

　　Amen.
