Ever since I have had the ability to understand it, I have been fascinated by the English language. As a child, I would either be writing, reading or telling stories and ever sine then, have read a wide variety of both fiction and non-fiction texts from a variety of genres and eras.

This passion for language has led me to many different extra-curricular activities. For the past four years, I have attended a Youth Theatre each week where we concentrate very much on both improvised and scripted drama but also have done work on stage management, stage make-up, singing, and signed singing (an interest which begun with my learning of both violin and double bass to grade 4 standard).

With this same organisation, I have volunteered for the past three years at one of the children’s groups where I work helping with drama, music and art. It was with this same organisation that I decided to learn Sign Language.I have recently gained my British Sign Language Level 1 certificate and am now beginning a Level 2 course. I began learning Sign Language at the same time as starting my A-Level in English Language and Literature, a course I have found extremely interesting. Taking these two courses concurrently was very exciting for me as learning more about the linguistics of the English Language enabled me to make comparisons between the two languages.

These interests have led me to this course which I not only feel suits my needs and interests aptly, but also excites me in its course content. Although I’ve enjoyed all of my A-Level English Language and Literature course but have found a few parts of it particularly interesting. I specifically enjoyed our coursework tasks for our AS Level as it included writing a piece of original fiction, an aspect of English which I have always enjoyed. I also enjoyed the task of performing a monologue as I have missed not being able to study drama as a subject.

I try to follow my interests outside of school and so attend a wide variety of theatre productions, art exhibitions, musical performances and subject related lectures. When studying psychology last year, I attended a large psychology conference with a variety of speakers which was both helpful and interesting. Last year I also attended an ‘a(chǎn)rt master class’ organised with Middlesex University and with nine other students, it gave more opportunity for more detailed and involved discussions. I have not yet had the opportunity to attend an English related lecture but look forward to a study day in March which will aid me with my study of Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra.

Alongside this and my voluntary work with the drama organisation, I have worked in a variety of jobs which have all helped to develop my sense of responsibility as they were dependent on both teamwork and co-operation but also my use of initiative.I have chosen to defer my entry to 2005 as I plan to complete a voluntary teaching placement in Africa. The prospect of this placement excites me as it will give me the opportunity to travel, to meet new people, to experience new cultures, and, above all, help out where much help is needed. I feel that taking a gap year is going to benefit me greatly as it will enable me to gain valuable life skills that will benefit me both at university but also in whatever I choose to do following university whether it be a postgraduate course or work.

烏克蘭留學(xué)衣食住行一覽

一、衣著

烏克蘭人在穿衣上面還是很講究的，烏克蘭的女性服裝的樣式很獨(dú)特，服裝上面繡了各種圖案，一般都是穿的淺色的襯衣。烏克蘭的男性也都穿的襯衫和寬松的褲子，平常男性喜歡穿的外套是夾克，他們冬天幾乎是不會(huì)穿保暖褲的。

二、飲食

烏克蘭的飲食和俄羅斯的飲食有點(diǎn)相似，他們都喜歡吃面食和稻米，還有面包和肉類，吃的口味偏甜。烏克蘭人吃的食物都是熱量偏高的，像牛奶、咖啡和油炸的食物。你要是不喜歡這種飲食的話，你可以去找找烏克蘭的中國(guó)餐廳吃飯，不過在烏克蘭的中國(guó)餐廳吃要比本地的餐廳還要貴，最實(shí)惠的就是自己去超市買一些蔬菜和肉類自己開始烹飪，食材的價(jià)格還是比較合理的，不會(huì)出現(xiàn)很貴的價(jià)格的。

三、住宿

烏克蘭所有的學(xué)校都是有獨(dú)立的學(xué)生公寓，去這里學(xué)習(xí)的學(xué)生大多數(shù)都能住到學(xué)校的公寓，一般都是兩個(gè)人或者是三個(gè)人一間房間。烏克蘭一些有名的學(xué)校的宿舍會(huì)給學(xué)生提供很齊全的宿舍用品。如果你要是在烏克蘭租房子的話，是可以租帶房東的房子，也可以租獨(dú)立的房子，這兩種房子的價(jià)格都不是很貴，房東還會(huì)給你提供很實(shí)用的家庭必備品，水電費(fèi)和網(wǎng)絡(luò)費(fèi)是基本不包含在你的房租里面的。在你租的里面是可以自己做飯，帶有廚房和廚房用品，做飯是很方便的。

四、出行

烏克蘭的交通還算是比較發(fā)達(dá)的，最方便的出行方式就是坐地鐵，地鐵是非常方便的跟國(guó)內(nèi)的差不多，都是一個(gè)城市有幾條地鐵的線路，你要去哪里就選哪條去坐，地鐵的價(jià)格也不貴，而且每個(gè)站的車費(fèi)都是一樣的。除了地鐵之外還有公交和有軌電車，公交車是通往烏克蘭城市的各個(gè)地方，車票就跟中國(guó)的地鐵票差不多。學(xué)生出行還可以打車，跟中國(guó)一樣要使用打車的軟件。

挪威留學(xué)本科需要多少費(fèi)用

一、學(xué)雜費(fèi)

成功進(jìn)入公立大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)的學(xué)生，只需要支付2000-3000元的注冊(cè)費(fèi)，注冊(cè)自己的合法入學(xué)的學(xué)生身份，不過這類院校的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)是非常激烈的，大家的準(zhǔn)備必須要很充分，而且確認(rèn)自己的能力足夠優(yōu)秀。

私立院校的入讀門檻會(huì)稍低一些，但是收費(fèi)就是歐洲的平均標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，大家進(jìn)入專業(yè)開始正常的學(xué)習(xí)，需要支付一學(xué)年5-10萬(wàn)元的學(xué)習(xí)費(fèi)用，大家要在學(xué)年正式開始之前繳清，這樣才可以開始學(xué)習(xí)。

二、生活費(fèi)

1.住宿

大家如果申請(qǐng)了宿舍的入住，并且成功的拿到了資格之后，需要先繳納定金，或者直接支付全款，房租也是一個(gè)月一個(gè)月繳清的，為大家提供的是雙人間帶衛(wèi)浴，一個(gè)月2000元左右。

一般一年新生期度過之后，大家就需要搬出來給新的學(xué)生騰位置，大家就需要自己租房，周邊會(huì)有專門出租的公寓，有不同房型可以選擇，空間會(huì)更大，環(huán)境也會(huì)好一些，一個(gè)月在3000-5000元之間。

2.吃飯

學(xué)校就會(huì)有食堂，大家不用擔(dān)心沒有物美價(jià)廉的選擇，資助會(huì)有大量的菜色可以選擇，而且味道價(jià)格都很不錯(cuò)，一般一天最多需要100元，一個(gè)月加起來需要3000元左右，還可以偶爾吃大餐。

想省錢的話建議大家自己買菜做飯，因?yàn)橐话銓I(yè)的課程任務(wù)不會(huì)很重，大家每天做飯也不會(huì)耽誤時(shí)間，可以將吃的成本壓縮到2000元左右，這樣可以讓自己的加餐變得更豪華。

3.其他

出門還需要坐車代步，大家提前辦好了卡之后，可以直接刷卡，這樣既方便又省錢，一個(gè)月平均500元左右;還要記得買好基礎(chǔ)的醫(yī)療保險(xiǎn)，一個(gè)月只需要300元左右就可以享受高比例的醫(yī)療報(bào)銷。

日用品的采購(gòu)大家可以等到商場(chǎng)超市有比較大的折扣的時(shí)候去，這樣可以華比平時(shí)更少的錢，主要就包括洗護(hù)日用類，還要考慮到衣服的需求，預(yù)算一個(gè)月1500元左右。
