My determination to study engineering comes from my desire to seek a challenge. In life, there seems to be no bigger challenge than to learn and find out how things work. In our modern world, engineering plays a big role in the foundations of technology and knowledge and this is what I am interested in.

As my year 12 progressed, my interest in science and Maths, particularly Physics developed. Studying Physics at Advanced level allows me to think about how things move and react to forces and how these properties can be used in solving both practical and theoretical situations. Maths interests me as it develops my problem solving skills, allowing me to apply familiar concepts to unfamiliar situations. My enthusiasm towards these subjects encouraged me to take up AS Further Maths. In doing so, I hope to expand my knowledge to achieve a level of understanding satisfactory to a potential degree level student. In addition to Physics and Maths, I am also studying Biology which provides me with the opportunity to develop my practical skills as I am required to work within groups. My communication skills have been put to the test during these lessons and I have proved many times that I am a team player.

After much research, I decided to attend taster courses at City University and Queen Mary University of London to experience what engineering involves. These informative taster courses offered me a unique chance to understand and to observe different areas of engineering which subsequently led me to the decision to pursue mechanical engineering. Its ability to allow me to see how things work fascinates me and furthermore, as mechanical engineering is a diverse field, it will allow me to learn and use many skills which can be transferred onto many employment opportunities.

Although I have enjoyed the challenge that my school-based work has given me, I have always sought to extend my knowledge. Recently, I built a computer. I discovered how each component is connected and how one energy source is converted into another. This has allowed me to apply the theory I learn within the curriculum to real situations. Furthermore, I was able to see how the components fit together by taking apart unwanted pieces from my old computer.

I have always been willing to give my time to take part in activities such as volunteering. I once raised money for the Marie Curie foundation. During this period, I improved my communication skills and confidence as I met and talked to many members of the community. I found that this experience was rewarding and fulfilling. I am a trusted member of my year group and when asked to be an ambassador for my sixth form, I accepted. This experience allowed me to demonstrate my organisation and communicational skills as I was required to confidently guide and talk to many potential students to the college. In addition, throughout my academic career, I have played an active role in a variety of different extracurricular activities. I am an adept musician and passed my grade 4 examinations in flute. Although I have decided to discontinue the examinations, every year during events such as Chinese New Year, I play the flute for my local Chinese community.

I believe that success as an engineer in a modern society requires a combination of management, communication and business skills. Therefore, with my previous experiences, focused attitude and will for success, I have the ability and motivation to meet the demands of studying at degree level. The prospect of studying engineering excites me, and I feel confident that I will make contributions to university life.

新西蘭的留學(xué)獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金要怎樣申請(qǐng)

一、本科獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金

它的簡(jiǎn)稱是NZ IUS。會(huì)把學(xué)生們?nèi)康膶W(xué)費(fèi)都覆蓋，資助的時(shí)間是學(xué)生在新西蘭這里就讀的三年的本科階段。一般在6月或者是學(xué)生們開(kāi)學(xué)后就開(kāi)始申請(qǐng)了。它的條件是需要在雅思中獲得6.0分以上的總分，如果是用托福的話，在筆試中要獲得550分以上的總分。但它無(wú)法和其它的獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金同時(shí)獲得。當(dāng)然在國(guó)內(nèi)就讀新西蘭這邊的合作項(xiàng)目，也能申請(qǐng)。

二、ORS獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金

這個(gè)獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金是英國(guó)的政府來(lái)給學(xué)生們提供的，但能申請(qǐng)的也只有歐盟以外國(guó)家的學(xué)生，一般一年只有大約900名的名額。這一獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金的用處是讓留學(xué)生們能得到與本地學(xué)生所需要的費(fèi)用的差額書(shū)，一般都有6000英鎊。

但這個(gè)ORS獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金更多還是給來(lái)讀碩士、博士階段的學(xué)生而提供的，本科生可以申請(qǐng)但獲批的幾率不高。一般要有它1年左右的申請(qǐng)周期為，要是自己能有優(yōu)秀的推薦人，那么幾率就會(huì)更久多。而且學(xué)生們的導(dǎo)師甚至也會(huì)決定學(xué)生們的申請(qǐng)。

一般ORS會(huì)在四月的是截止，所以大家有一定就得在這個(gè)時(shí)間前申請(qǐng)。申請(qǐng)都是在6月開(kāi)始的。但首先學(xué)生要選擇一個(gè)學(xué)校然后在這個(gè)學(xué)校申請(qǐng)，要是申請(qǐng)了多個(gè)學(xué)校的，反而會(huì)被取消資格無(wú)法申請(qǐng)。

三、各大學(xué)的獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金

跟別的地區(qū)一樣，這里的每所大也都有自己設(shè)置的獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金，當(dāng)然在具體要求以及數(shù)額上也都是各個(gè)學(xué)校自己確定的。因此大家要多些去看自己心儀大學(xué)的，去看它們?cè)讵?jiǎng)學(xué)金上的申請(qǐng)細(xì)節(jié)還有條件這些。

在申請(qǐng)時(shí)間上，不管是什么大學(xué)，一般都是開(kāi)學(xué)后才申請(qǐng)的，要是太晚的話就無(wú)法申請(qǐng)了。申請(qǐng)的學(xué)生不但要成績(jī)優(yōu)異，還得看他們的專業(yè)選擇，這也是很重要的一個(gè)要素。因?yàn)椴煌瑢I(yè)會(huì)有不一樣的申請(qǐng)人數(shù)，當(dāng)然彼此之間的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)程度都是不同的。像是熱門的專業(yè)，往往就比較難申請(qǐng)了。

新西蘭留學(xué)省錢小技巧

1.學(xué)生折扣

5.商場(chǎng)折扣

7.二手商品

對(duì)于一些使用度沒(méi)有限制的商品，大家的需求有比較高的，可以去二手市場(chǎng)逛一逛，只要能夠使用，只需要全新的商品一半甚至更少的錢就能夠獲取。

8.消費(fèi)返現(xiàn)
