1. It is two years since I smoked.
誤：我抽煙已經(jīng)兩年了。
正：我戒煙已經(jīng)兩年了。
析：在“ It is +時(shí)間段+ since 從句”中，若表示時(shí)間的 since 從句中的謂語動(dòng)詞是持續(xù)性動(dòng)詞，則這個(gè)時(shí)間段是從這個(gè)持續(xù)性動(dòng)作結(jié)束時(shí)算起。如： It is ten years since she was here. 她不在這里已經(jīng)十年了。
2. All of us are not for the plan.
誤：我們大家都不贊成這個(gè)計(jì)劃。
正：并非我們大家都贊成這個(gè)計(jì)劃。
析： all/both/everything 等用于否定結(jié)構(gòu)時(shí)不表示全部否定，而表示部分否定。如： Not both of them are right. (并非他們兩人都是對(duì)的。)又如： She doesn't like everything here. (她并非喜歡這里的一切。)
3. We can't be too careful in doing such experiments.
誤：做這樣的實(shí)驗(yàn)，我們不能太仔細(xì)。
正：做這樣的實(shí)驗(yàn)，我們必須非常非常仔細(xì)。
析：“ can not……too…… ”句式表示“無論怎樣也不過分”、“越……越好”。如： We can not estimate1 the value of modern science too much. (對(duì)于現(xiàn)代科學(xué)的價(jià)值，我們無論作怎樣的評(píng)價(jià)也不算過分。)
4. She isn't hungry a little.

5. The man is too strong not to lift the box up.

析：“ too……not to do…… ”結(jié)構(gòu)表示“很……不會(huì)不……”、“非常……必然會(huì)……”的意思?！?too……to do ”結(jié)構(gòu)則表示“太……而不能”的意思。試比較： Lin Dong is too wise not to work out the problem. (劉東很聰明，不會(huì)算不出這道題。) I am too tired to walk. (我太累了，走不動(dòng)了。)
6. He isn't a farmer and a worker.
誤：他不是工人也不是農(nóng)民。
正：他是工人不是農(nóng)民。
析：“ not A and B ”表示“不是 A 而是 B ”?！?not A or B ”表示“不是 A 也不是 B ”。比較： He isn't a farmer or a worker. (他不是個(gè)農(nóng)民也不是個(gè)工人。)
7. She is no musician.
誤：她不是個(gè)音樂家。
正：她不懂音樂。
析：在“ She is no musician ”這樣的句子里， no 并不是否定某種職業(yè)或類屬，而是否定從句從事某種職業(yè)的人的素養(yǎng)或天份，即表示主語具有表語所表達(dá)的人或事物的相反的屬性。如： He is no scholar2. (他不學(xué)無術(shù)。) He is no fool. (他很聰明。) He isn't a scholar. (他不是個(gè)學(xué)者。) He is not a fool. (他不是個(gè)笨人。)
8. Rose is no less diligent3 than her elder sister.
誤：羅斯跟她姐姐一樣都不用功。
正：羅斯跟她姐姐一樣用功。
析：“ no less……than ”表示“同……一樣”。如： She is no less beautiful than her elder sister. 她跟她姐姐一樣漂亮?！?no more than ”可以表示“與……一樣都不……”的意思。如： Tom is no more careful than Bob. (湯姆不仔細(xì)，鮑勃也不仔細(xì)。)
9. I don't believe Miss Hong will be the last but two in the examination4 in her class.

析： think， believe， suppose， expect 和 feel 都是表示信念、推測、愿望等心理活動(dòng)的動(dòng)詞。若要否定其后的賓語從句，則常將否定詞轉(zhuǎn)移到主句中去。如： I don't think you are right. (我認(rèn)為你不對(duì)。)
10. Tell me what the matter is.
